FOR FELINE DIABETES: IT’S A WHOLE NEW BALLGAME

A guideline for how SGLT-2 inhibitors work and how to approach a newly diagnosed feline diabetic.

MMVD IN DOGS: RISK AWARENESS, EARLY DETECTION, AND MANAGEMENT FOR MORE LIFE TO LOVE

A talk designed to aid in early diagnosis and treatment for Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease and the benefits of early management.

VETERINARY WELL-BEING

This talk speaks honestly to the pressures of veterinary clinic life: emotional fatigue, perfectionism, client expectations, and the quiet burnout that even the most dedicated teams carry-while normalizing those experiences without judgment.  It offers practical, clinic-ready ways to protect mental health, support one another, and build a culture where well-being is treated with the same seriousness as patient care.

Speakers:

Dr. Carol Reinero received her DVM and a PhD from the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) to complete a small animal internal medicine residency.  A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, she is a professor and the director of the Comparative Internal Medicine Laboratory at the University of Missouri-Columbia.  Dr. Reinero has spoken nationally and internationally on respiratory diseases in small animals and has published more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts.

Dr. Tom Taylor is a 2004 graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  He is an experienced veterinarian with 21 years in small animal medicine and surgery, including extensive experience in public speaking, surgical instruction, and professional mentorship. Tom was a former practice owner, growing a small 3 doctor practice into a 7 doctor hospital with a state-of-the-art facility to serve the Cedar Valley.  Since May 2025, Tom has served as a Professional Services Veterinarian with Boehringer Ingelheim,  supporting veterinary hospitals through clinic support, technical education, CE events, and collaborative business development.
